Our Beloved Founder

Our beloved Founder Ms. Maureen Fernandez was always known as a passionate and empathic teacher at heart who was and is still loved and respected by the many hundreds of students and their parents, that have passed through her loving care.

A Church Park trained teacher and a specialist in the Montessori Method and having later completed her B. Ed., Ms. Maureen started her educator carrier in the year 1965 and went of to complete 50 wonderful years as an educationist in December 2015.

She was the first Indian teacher to be inducted in the school started by Madura Coats in Madurai, Tamil Nadu and played an important part in building Vikaasa into on of the most respected schools in South India. She founded St. Mark’s in 1997 after her tenure at Vikaasa.

Ms. Maureen has had many current day prominent personalities in various fields as her students and had played a lasting and significant role in moulding them to what they are today.

She is always remembered for her talent in approaching each child with empathy and for her love and care that she showed while instilling values in her students, which is continued at St. Mark’s.
